104 Years of Jesus in India: Print Edition Launch on 15 November 2026
By Dinesh Chandra Rawat | Glories of India Publications
What might the unexplained periods of Jesus’s life reveal? How should we examine accounts connecting him with India? And how do we distinguish historical evidence, local tradition and later interpretation?
These questions lie at the heart of my book, 104 Years of Jesus in India, whose print edition is scheduled to launch on 15 November 2026. Printed copies are expected to arrive on 14 November. The Kindle edition is already available on Amazon.
This book invites readers to examine an unconventional reconstruction of Jesus’s life through texts, travel accounts, regional traditions and my own research journey.
Why I Wrote This Book
For more than thirty-five years, my exploration of history has taken me beyond textbooks—to historical sites, conversations with local people, meetings with researchers and the study of published sources.
My interest in the possible connections between Jesus and India grew from questions that deserved closer examination. What do the accounts actually say? When were they recorded? How reliable are their sources? Where do different accounts agree, and where do they contradict one another?
I wrote this book to bring these questions together and explain the reconstruction I have developed from my reading and investigations. Readers are invited to examine the arguments and reach their own conclusions.
What Does “104 Years” Mean?
The title expresses the chronology proposed in the book. It works from a lifespan of 120 years, subtracting thirteen years associated with the Essenes and three years of public ministry, to arrive at 104 years connected with India.
This is the author’s historical reconstruction, not an established scholarly chronology. Its value must be assessed through the sources and reasoning presented in the book.
Understanding this distinction is essential to understanding the investigation.
The Questions and Sources Explored
The book brings together several strands of the Jesus-in-India debate:
- The unexplained years: Questions about periods of Jesus’s life for which the familiar narratives provide limited biographical detail.
- Hemis and the accounts of Issa: Nicolas Notovitch’s reported discovery and the questions surrounding its authenticity and verification.
- The Bhavishya Purana: A passage frequently discussed in this debate, including questions about its dating, transmission and interpretation.
- Kashmir traditions and Rozabal: Accounts associating Jesus with Kashmir and the disputed identification of the Srinagar shrine.
- Routes and cultural encounters: The geographical setting in which journeys between western Asia and the Indian subcontinent are considered.
These strands differ in character and evidential strength. A local tradition, a traveller’s report and a securely dated historical record cannot automatically be treated as equivalent. The reader’s task—and the researcher’s—is to examine those differences carefully.
My Research Journey in Kashmir
A significant part of my personal enquiry was my 2011 visit to Srinagar and Pahalgam, during which I met the late researcher Dr. Fida Hassnain.
Our discussions and the four books he gave me, including a signed volume, became important reference points in my continuing investigation. The photographs and materials connected with that visit document my research journey.
Meeting a researcher or visiting a place does not, by itself, establish an ancient historical claim. It does help explain how questions develop, how sources are encountered and why an investigation continues.
Who Is This Book For?
104 Years of Jesus in India is intended for readers interested in:
- Jesus’s life and the questions surrounding its chronology.
- India’s place in discussions of religious and cultural exchange.
- Kashmir’s traditions and their historical interpretation.
- Alternative historical arguments and the scrutiny they require.
- The relationship between texts, travel narratives and field research.
The book approaches these subjects as an invitation to enquiry, with respect for the significance Jesus holds for people across the world.
